This fanfare celebrates optimism in the face of life's challenges, and the faith to create works of art and children, the courage to dream freely and the freedom to express oneself honestly and openly as we advance into the new century. The fanfare was commissioned as part of the Fanfares for the New Millenium project by the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra Society with additional funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. Premiered 4 July 2000 at the Tennessee Amphitheatre by the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra conducted by Music Director Kirk Trevor and repeated on 23-24 September to open the orchestra's 2000-2001 Season.
